Default car stereo and 6volt electrical system

Anybody running a modern car stereo in a 6volt system? I wanna add some tunes in my bomba but havent upgraded my electrical system to 12volts yet. Any ideas how i could get the stock wires? Or should just throw a battery inthe trunk?

There's no equipment worth running at 6v. Battery in the trunk would fine but still no way to charge it from the 6v charging system. Upgrading to 12v shouldnt be all that expensive. Whats the year and make?

it was pretty strait forward doing the conversion on my 51 Fleetline. Mostly bulbs and a couple of resisters, alternator and battery.

10a converter should be enough for just a radio.

its 1951 Dodge Diplomat Coronet ...I had the generator rebuilt so I'm trying to roll it without spending money on a altanerator just yet. Im currently putting money towards the mechanical and getting it running smoothly but I'd still like a way to get some oldies in there on the stock electrical system. thanks

Not if you're keeping it a 6volt system.

Ah man so I can't do the battery in the trunk then? I mean I still got some time before the 51 is on the road again but man guess I gotta spend that extra money. I had just had the generator rebuilt so I can I still that or do I have to get an alternerator?

You can put a 12v battery in the trunk or wherever but you must have the whole system operating at 12v. The generator is for a 6v system and is useless if you upgrade to a 12v system. Upgrading requires a 12v battery and alternator to replace the 6v battery & generator.
