63 impala shifter linkage

    Does this look right?
    Is this shifter linkage hooked up right? or is there something missing? or something i need to switch out? or anything outta place that you see where the shift linkage is?... this car is a 63 impala 2 door hardtop, automatic column shift...it use to be a "3 on the tree"(manual shift)... thanks for any replies!

    Looks ok to me. As long as you can change gears it should be fine.

    you're just usin a 3 speed column as an auto? why not swap in an auto column?

    i just installed one of those in my car cause i have a th350 but i put it on the bottom of the shift linkage i wasnt sure if it went from all the way on top like yours is but mine shifts just fine aswell as long as it shifts.....

    I have that same linkage, here is what it looks like on an auto column.... pretty much the same.

    I tried installing this same linkage and am having difficulties with it changing gears back and forth. Anybody have any tips.

    again, as long as it shifts. if there is a problem use a longer rod

    I'll take another look at it I just got sent the install instructions from lokar. I think the problem might be that I dont have the lever on the transmission gear selector at the appropriate position.

    The one in the link i posted is a 700R4, if you have a different trans you just need to find nuetral on the transmission, then put your shifter on the column in the N possition then tighten it down.

    No matter what trans you have, "park" will be with the gear lever turned all the way clockwise.... then you know the next click counter-clockwise will be reverse, one more and you are in nuetral.

    sorry to dig up an old thread but how did this project end up?

    i've been dreaming of converting my 3 on the tree to auto
    im in australia and cant source a column either

    is it just a matter of bolting up the auto and connecting the linkages?
    does it go into gear alright?
    what about oil cooler lines?
