How do you actually prime a power steering pump ? Iput fluid in the pump and the front tires are off the ground belt is tight. But no fluid circulating through the pressure hose and i know this because i even disconnected the hose to the gear box and no fluid coming out of it. This is on a 64 impala with the 605 conversion brand new pump also. I dont know what im missing here.

never heard of priming. Buy it, put fluid in it, take the wheels off the ground, with the car off turn the wheel both ways over and over and over the fluid will rise and fall and release air. Run the motor and the pump starts to pump and thats all. If you have the wrong pulley on it, maybe the pulley is turning but not grabbing the shaft?

    What he said.
You may have to repeat it a few times. Mine took 2.5 times before the power came on. Spilled a lot of fluid in the process as the burps caused some overflow.

The process that came with my pump rebuid was
jack front wheels off the ground.
Engine off- gently turn steering wheel lock to lock several times
Engine On -gently turn steering wheel lock to lock several times
Repeat until it is powering the steering.
