how to lift body off frame??

    Default how to lift body off frame??

    This is my 1st job I am trying to do by my self with no help just wanted to know any hint what to do and not to do when lifting a body off the frame I have a 73 impala I took the whole front end off and all the body mounts I was thinking of using a engine puller on the trunk latch just to get it off but my boui said it will fold buckle etc any ideas??

    I wouldnt try it by myself- thats why you have a car club to help.

    with all the interior out...get 6 of your boys and set it on some 55 gallon drums, then you can clean up the belly too

    Jack up the frame with the body on, set jack stands under the pinch welds of the body and carefully lower the frame down enough to slide 2x4 or 4x4 blocks of wood or some sort of holding device between the body and frame then jack it back up and set the blocks on stands. Pretty ghetto but will work.

    I know you can use a a hoist on the trunk hook (not latch) to lift it from the back and put some 2x4's on jack stands.

    Roll it outside on some level ground. Stick some 4x4 posts under the rocker panels and deflate the tires. Then dig two trenches behind the paths of the wheels and roll it out from under the body.

    A lot of good info I used dylante advise the front if off juz gota figure out the bacc its a 73 impala idk if the bumper is going to come off with the frame or not idk lol

    Use the same on the rear take the bumpers off and roll frame forward under body till it's out

    Thanks for tha info got it off the guy had molded gurls on the my glass house and then had 20s on it and my jacks only lifted so high so I can to lift up take tires off and lowrider the body alil not to mention I'm working in dirt so the shock mounts digging in ground might get under body and take the rear end out and the shocks and all the suspension and stuff but yea the body almost landed ontop of me scary shyt but I'm alive

    Whenever lifting a vehicle thats not on pavement ALWAYS put some thick plywood under the jack and jackstands.

    Well I live with my ex there's cars every were or I woodve lol but we got it out we pulled it with a truck just gota swap everything over suspension etc and then new frame goin on thanks for all the help
