can Flakes be sprayed over hok pearl?
i know this is a dumb question but im curious about mixin some medium hok violet flakes with sg-150 flake carrier from hok and spraying it over hok passion purple!

Big doe has done the same color with lincoln james old town car but instead of flakes he went with violet ice pearl in sg-100 intercoat, im anxious to find out and see if adding some decent size violet flakes will work with that hok passion purple as well!
i know candy needs to be sprayed over flake , ut i have a feeling that violet flakes probably wouldnt look bad in the sg-150 then just cleared over with topcoat clear?

heres the color with violet ice pearl big doe did, pretty huh!!

seal with black sealer, let flash till dry to touch, usually no longer than 30 mins, basecoat, let dry until you can tack, usually like 10 mins, wait an extra 10 to be safe, spray your intercoat with flakes, wait about 30 mins(or as sg150 tds recomends) clearcoat away!!!

the purple base should cover over black in 3 coats, do 1 coat extra after visible hiding to be safe. how many coats of flake is in your hands/effect your going for.

well then maybe white then, i'm not a big HOK user, but i always use dark sealer on darker colors, it covers better that way, but if HOK recommends it, i would go white sealer then, thanks for clearing that up

i always tint my sealer to the closest shade of that of my color, i got a gallon of white and a gallon of black, thats when i use dupont, when i use sikkens, i use colorbuild sealer, and i can tint my sealers with yellow, blue, green, red, black, and white, i can get real close to any color with that, then it covers real fast, nothing worse than pulling a car outside and you cann see thru it!!!!!

so to be on the safe side i would have to mix red and blue colorbuild to acheive purple sealer correct?

and a little white and black, i always add black, and most often a little white too when needed, but always black, because that makes it cover in 1 coat i only ever do 1 coat of sealer, want to keep the build up to a minimum.

colorbuild is a sikkens product though, i would not use it for your HOK, i would use there sealer.

I always spray HOK over a like color sealer or solid base color. Never over white because their paint sucks. Its so transparent.
