To me you can. money spent on a bike... is money spent on a bike. To me lowriding is getting too competitive. People seem to be more worried about piling heavy twisted shit on there bike, than just building a sweet bike to cruise or show. It seemed like people used to build bikes for the love of lowriding... now people put shit on there bike because they think it's gonna win them points at "vegas".

Take "sic nics" air trike for example... this trike is as simple as trikes can get.. Dull paint, no bondo, no murals... And people like me would pay crazy money for a bike like that. To me it's not how much  candy paint, chrome, spokes and bullshit you have... but how much you love the bike.

I think your basing your opinion on "lowrider bikes" just on what you read on this forum. Its true that alot of the focus on here is winning and placing at a show. But there two kinds of builders. The ones out there trying to win a trophy and the other guys who just want to make something cool. There are still people out there building clean lowrider bikes but there out there enjoying there bikes. Not online worried about some show or competition.

People can not justify buying one of these bikes for a few reasons. You can get something "cooler" and more impressive for the same amount of $$$ or less. I understand these guys want to get made and maybe there using better quality parts to do what they do but I dont think they will see much success. Alot of people what there bike to stand out or to be different from the next bike. But its all a matter of opinion and personal preference.

I think these guys are making a cool product for a small market. Some people will love to ride these. As someone who is trying to make custom frames from scratch, I can respect what they are doing but I wouldn't try to do it for a living.

Damn. downbikes isn't getting the love I thought they would get on here. I wonder how successful they have been? Me and my homeboy thought about fabricating our own air suspension bike. I would come up with the design and he would bend and weld it up. It would stay at his auto shop and I would trick around on it everytime I stopped by cheesy.gif

Our bikes are cruiser bikes one of a kind, not lowrider show bikes. If we made a full show twisted candy... bike it would be double/triple the money, just like all other show bikes.
You can go to Sport Chalet or a Bike Shop and buy a name brand name cruiser for 3-600 bucks and add-on parts and you get a stock bike with add-ons for about the same amount as custom air ride downbike that barely any one will have.
The price is low for how much time & money is spent on producing these bikes.
Tell me how many people you know with there bike laying frame on air & everything looking Clean! Everyone has there personal preference but you have to understand how much time & money are spent on making one.

with the economy in a rut and most people on here not wanting to spend much money(aside from the select few that build show bikes and actually have money to spend), you are not looking at getting alot of love around here. Although you have a cool idea, the cost of it just doesnt make alot of sense right now...or at least here on layitlow. I understand there is a price that comes with having something unique...

Downbikes, don't be discouraged. keep doing what your doing. Your idea is innovative because I have never seen anybody actually fabricate air suspension bicycles for the public. I think you will have much success. After all Your using YouTube which is pretty much free advertising that reaches literally the whole world. One of your videos has only been up for 3 months and it's approaching 3,000 views. Pretty soon you'll probably be getting more order requests than you can handle. Honestly, I can see why someone would think $850-$950 is too much for a bike. Especially in these bad economic times. But people are still spending that much on STOCK road bikes... During this recession.

$850 may be alot to some people but for a hand made, frame layin' 50s style, led sled... Worth every penny cool.gif .
