whats up guys. do any of you from rhode island or mass have problems with the cops or the dmv because of your hydraulics because this past weekend my plates and registration and inspection got tooken away, r.i. dmv said my car was illegal. any comments would help and is there any chance of me getting my car back on the road. thanks.

thanks for the advice cd'z, i was thinking about that, they found out i had hydraulics in my car because i went to gary's auto to get my car inspected, he wouldnt inspect it because of my hydraulics so i went somewhere else, then when gary saw me on the road a few days later with a legit inspection sticker he snitched on me, he called up the r.i. dmv in providence and made a complaint so the dmv had to check it out. they said my car was illegal and took it off the road, they took my playes my registration and scraped off the inspection sticker and i had to pay $60.00 to have my car towed home. did you have spokes on the car when you took it to get it inspected???
i dont know what you can do now, just wondering exactly how it all happened....

I dont know what was up that guys ass, but it's NOT illegal to have hydraulics, you're just not supposed to use them while driving on the road. I get a LEGAL inspection all the time. even got pulled over dragging my bumper diong a HUGE 3wheel while clowning somebody. cop just gave me a ticket for only $70(35 for altered suspension & 35 for loud exhaust~cherrybombs) AND>>> I beat the ticket. HYDROS ARE NOT ILLEGAL.!!!

I've learned to ask shops ahead of time if they are willing to do it. I have encountered some that just dont want to touch a car like that. However others could care less. I know of 4 shops that would inspect the caddy within 5 miles of where I use to live. Not sure about RI though
Long story short: Went to look at a '72 Super Beetle yesterday. Turns out they had a '71 Beetle that was actually in better shape, so I made an offer on that. The dude said yes and went to get the title, but his wife said no. 
He said he had to live with her and not me, but he would try to talk to her. So I was pissed, but whatever. Anyway, I'm driving home and what do I see but a freakin MINT '81 Coupe Deville...MINT!!! Not a speck of rust anywhere, even underneath. All white with light brown or tan leather interior, and not a tear or sign of wear anywhere. Only 66K miles on this bad boy, and it looks like it was probably owned by some old person and garaged since day one. Hmmm, it doesn't get the mileage of a Beetle, but all I've been looking at lately are old Coupes and Beetles (big difference, but I love them both), and this seems like too much of a coincidence that I would lose out on a Beetle and find this on the way home.

dam thats some bull shit, that guys needs his ass beat!! i guess you could just fight it like the others said and hope to win, if not refer to my previous statement and put the stock shit in and have the state reinspect it.

I'm definitely thinking about it. Trying to get some work done on the '94 is eating up most of my funds, so buying the Coupe would drain me, but it's almost too nice a ride to pass up, even with the notorious V8-6-4.

you have to ask around and see who dont mind doing it, and put the factorys on.
how hard is it to put the factory suspension back on? it's a 1986 pontiac parisienne with a chain bridge in the back.

shouldnt be very hard, assuming that you have coil overs, you'll have to cut 1/2 turn off the factory springs so they'll fit over the powerballs, in the front, just take out the cyinders and put springs back in.... and dont open your trunk
for coil under, it would be even easier, the factory coil spring should sit right where the other spring is..../

Last Sunday afternoon I was coming down 84 West heading back to NJ and I met up with another '94 Fleetwood. It was painted this electric blue and had blue tint with tribal graphics on the side windows. The suspension was shit (shaking at high speeds) and it had the stock wheels on it. Dude was flying right along with me and got off at like Exit 20. Any idea who he was CT people?
