The following diagram is from the book "How To Build A Lowrider"
TORSION BAR SUSPENSION - Torsion bar suspensions feature a helically mounted cylinder/coil spring set-up. The piston rod comes pre-drilled for easy installation, and the donut is sandwiched between the upper edge of the cylinder's cap and a 3-inch coil spring that rises into the shock tower. Installers must reinforce the shock mount bracket (arrow A) to facilitate cylinder mounting.
