First off, hello. Longtime lurker first time poster. I've acquired alot of useful 411 from this forum. Thank you.

I have a 2004 S-10 Blazer 4-door. I bought a Kenwood Excelon X889 HU for it. I went with the Excelon because it seemed to be the only stereos I could find with the RDS that my OEM has. I like that and wanted to keep it.

I went to scosche and ebay looking for a wiring harness to connect it. The ones I'm seeing is saying that I have to keep the OEM connected and store it somewhere else. I really don't know how to describe it and unfortunately I can't find them again to post a link. I'm freaking out. Is this true? Will I have to relocate the OEM just to have the RDS? help? thanks

Found a link to one of them

Buy this...

Do what it says, you're covered...
Don't do it, air bags go goofy and door chime may do funny things...
And you won't have the Radio Data System (RDS)...
Be glad there IS a harness that makes it THAT easy for you...
Finding a place to hide the huge factory h/u should be interesting though....

Crap! This sucks so freaking bad. Thanks for your help. After 34 years of getting screwed you'd think I'd be used to it by now. Oh well, looks like I'll sell the head unit on ebay.
