My Boy just picked himself up a 52' truck and was wondering what kind of engine it came with???? its a straight six but wanted more info??? thanks!!!!

235 if it got the valve cover bolts on the sides like a 350 and 216 if there on top in the middle..

216 was standard for manual
235 was with the PG


Both had "babbit rod" oiling

If they don't tick, it's not running
If they don't leak oil, then you're low 2 quarts

i would say look up the vin and see what it tells u

or look for the rpo codes somewhere on the truck

The only thing that #s would tell him is a. body style b. what # it is off the line and c. where it was built...
Bombs are WAY different, plus you don't know who did what over the 50+ years it's been around

215 has the front mounts on the bottom of the engine. 235's and larger are in about 45 degree mounting points at the very ends of the front mounting plate. also if its a later (58+) 235 it has 18 head bolts..

here's my 235 with Fenton headers, Offenhauser 3x1 intake with Rochester B carbs and some chrome goodies....
