I put a 305 chevy engine in my 84 coupe. It used to run and then it all of a sudden stoped I changed the timing chain and put on a rebuilt Holley 750 wit vacum secondaries and a new distributor It will run on starting fluid but not on its own ,the jets are spraying ,but it will only run while im spraying starting fluid in it ? Anyone know why ?

no Ive checked that gas is getting to the carb not a wole lot though but there is gas spraying when I pump the throttle.

Timing could be off enough to where it wont run with gas. Sounds like it still isnt getting the gas to the intake.

Yeah the timing is off , but it will run when I turn the distributor just right and there is a puddle of gas in the intake

not enough fuel pressure, change the pump.
