depends what you use...I heard one 15" hit harder than (4) 12's....but it all depends on the type of enclosure and which brand of subs you are using....save your space and money and do (1) 15"..ported.

i hate when ppl just sum up the hundreds of different subs and thousands of different sub/amp/enclosure combo's out there into a simple "2 12's, or 4 10's".... it REALLY does depend on WHICH 12 and WHICH 10....

how about you hit us with your budget and what your tryna get out of the system... i think you'll get where you wanna be alot faster and in the end will be alot happier

4 10" subs
2 12 " subs

of the same make

running off the same power

both ported or either both sealed

same car

the 10 have 40"s of cone

the 12 have 24"s of cone

10 move more air

IMO 10 will be higher volume or louder

IMO 12 will hit deeper

Correct, the 10's should be louder and displace more air...

The 12's won't hit deeper because they are 12's, it all depends on box tuning and the sub design itself...

The size of a sub has nothing to do with how low it will play...

That said, he could do 2-12's ported, but the 4-10's will most likely have to be sealed...

In this case, the 12's will most likely be louder...
