What size is the middle back seat speaker in a 64 impala?. Can i fit a good aftermarket speaker there that would be ok for the whole car? Of course i would have my sub and amp plugged in. I dont need really need loud thumping sounds. Just good sound to hear music at decent volume.

TRUST ME, GO WITH A PAIR OF 6 X 9'S BACK THERE YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED
See the problem is, i dont want to drill any holes on the panel. So i figured i would just use the existing holes that are under the speaker grill in the middle of the seat.
IT TAKES A 5 X 7, OR A 6 X 8 I THINK. THE BIGGEST THING IS THAT YOUR SOUNDS IS JUST NOT GONNA BE ALL THAT GREAT, AND IF YOU WANT TO ADD A SUB IN THERE, YOU ARE NOT GONNA GET THE PERFORMANCE FROM A SPEAKER OF THAT SIZE. JUST MY .02

PERSONALLY, I THINK THE TWO 6 X 9'S BACK THERE INCREASES THE VALUE OF THE CAR, IT JUST LOOKS MORE SMOOTHER THEN HAVING A PERFERATED CARDBOAD PACKAGE TRAY
i have the molded kickpanels for mine, looks good and sounds nice!!!
Build a new back dash for some 6x9s and keep the OG one wrapped up in plastic in your basement if you're concerned about preserving it. My $.02 ;)

Yeah. My impala is a straight virgin so it scares me to start removing stuff and drilling holes. But i think i will take you guy's advice. It sounds legit.

i think the hole is 6 inches you can put a 5 1/4 there with some brackets

dont take out your fresh air vents i tried that building some baffle panels to replace the fresh air vents i almost died from the heat ..

you can put a 5 1/4 in the kick panels forward of the fresh air vents as long as they dont have monster sized magnets ...and there is a depression in the steel frame of the kick panels by the door pins
