How many shims should i use? im using two and the starter is getting stuck in the flywheel? New flywheel also :dunno:

you need to check the pinion to ring gear clearance.. should be .010-.020

or, measure the ring to pinion clearance and do it right.... ;)

i it's sticking use more if it drops out use less ...


if it turns over real slow you got too much advance on your initial timing :biggrin:

did you make sure you got the same tooth on the flex plate for the starter end gear?

ya a lot of old timers keep telling me they never used shims. I bet its that autozone starter :machinegun:

i got it fixed it was the wrong starter autozone told me it was the right one :angry: Thanks for the help
