I've got a 1984 cutlass supreme. Stock alternator but two kicker 12"compvr + kicker 800.2 amp. Alternator belt squeels untill the bass stops. Then no more squeel. Driving to work today I smoked my 3rd belt. The previous owner never had this issue. But the previous owner never had a system that required a lot of amprage. Does anyone know what the stock alternator output is? And what output alternator I should go with? It's a 3.8L v6. Also where could I get a higher output alternator. I've been emailing a guy about a 145amp for $140.

Let me know guys. Thanks

I would tighten the belt up next time. Your alternator does not become harder to turn when the bass hits, thats silly.

It might switch to a higher amperage rating VIA the internal mass sensor, but it does not change its speed under any load.

Sounds like something is not aligned correclty or the belt is just plain loose.
