the 3.8 is a BOP motor and the 305 is a chevy motor the bellhousings are different.. some th350s have universale bells.. some dont.. when i swapped a 3.8 in a 80 grand prix i had to use the trans from the 85 gp 305 motor that was the donar.. chevy trans bells are pointed at the top and BOP dip down..

also in the 80's not a whole lot of g-bodies had th350 trans.. alot had th200 also know as metric 200s.. they are easy to spot because the pans are ripped aluminum and the th350 pan wll be plain steel... also something to consider.. the metric 200 will have a lock up converter... i ran a metric 250 with out the lock up converter hooked up and it was fine

Idont think itll work cuz the bellhousings are different. just like blvdcruiser said. but i wouldnt run the transmission without the lockup hooked up, when I did that it burnt out the transmission

it depends on the trans.. u CANT not run the lock up on a R4 series.. but the metric 200 lock up converter is an after thought and can be not used

the only guarunteed gm v6 to v8 swap with tranny is a 4.3 because there a 350 with 2 less cylinders-4.3 to the biggest v-8 chevy have same bolt pattern for trans-just dont stick a 572 on a v6 trans and rear end-that drive train wont last long at all lol

well from what i read i thank i have the TH200-4R so the 305 wont fit right. :(
it might if that 200r4 has a universal bellhousing. but youll still have to address that lockup converter. if it has the right pattern then youd have to get a lockup kit from b+m or painless wiring

is the 307 a option? either one will work but if you want chrome and pulleys and all the dress up shit then the 305 has more products made for it
