I plan to build a 98-99 town car as my next show ride. I was wondering if anyone has some input on the town cars like weaknesses in the frame or what I should look out for. I havent purchased one yet, but have my eye out now that my ride is sold.

I notice the 98-99s dont have full digitals dash's like my 92 does.

I prefer the 98-99's over the 2000 new bodys.. or did they change the body in 2001?

thanks

people change the arms from i think 91 and lower TCs because that style is prefered, for extending and reinforcing, the newer arms are the tubular wishbone looking 1s

PEOPLE SWAP OUT SPINDLES AND BRAKE ASSEMBLIES TO FIT 14'S OR 13'S. I CHOSE A 91 TC SWAP. WITH THE STOCK BRAKES YOU HAVE TO GRIND AND ROLL WITH ADAPTERS. WHICH IS A BIG NO-NO. THE 91 A ARMS ARE THE SAME 98 -01. I THINK THE BODY CHANGED IN 02. COULD BE WRONG. AS FOR THE A- ARMS. YOU CAN SWAP SOME 80'S TC BUT YOU NEED TO SWAP THE A-ARM MOUNTS TOO. THERE WAS A THREAD WHERE SOMEONE REINFORCED THE TUBE ONES. IT CAN BE DONE JUST MOST PEOPLE I GUESS DONT TRY IT. IM LOOKING TO JUICE MINES ALSO. IVE LEARNED ALOT HERE ON LIL.

first off yes, 98-06 towncars do not come with a full digital dash. second, the 98-02 body styles are exactly the same and was changed in '03. i had a lifted 98. the only thing u gotta worry about on the frame is the upper control arms. either extend them and reinforce really well or do as i did and swap the uppers, towers, and spindles from a 90 or older TC. if u dont do the swap, then u also will need the 91-94 spindles.

but the frames are fine on these cars. they get tricky 03+.

good luck

could someone explain why the spindles need to be swapped out to run 14 or 13s??

I have a 92 and I added a 1/4 spacers to run 13's on it. Never had any problems with it. Is that bad to do that?

thanks
