Wish people had a fund raiser for my Car Club when our houses was trashed last year, shit part of my gate is still down. The only thing I do not like is that all of those places have staff's and maybe 15% of your money actually goes to someone, that shit is bullshit. But you had a house to go back to didnt you?
And part of your gate is still down??? How does that even compare to having nothing but the clothes on your back and half of your family being dead floating in some street??? :uh:
Damn, so people that dont have a car, or a car that is reliable enough to drive 5 hours north deserve to die?Originally posted by dirtywhiteboy66@Sep 5 2005, 10:27 PM~3758794

15%??? Damn, with all the horror stories you hear about organization losing money in the process, it makes you think twice about giving money away but if you can give direct help to those people in need, that's great though...It's a great thing Jason J what your wife did for your fellow americans...Originally posted by dirtywhiteboy66@Sep 5 2005, 09:21 PM~3758745

Your president is a good example of that...It's a good thing americans have big hearts like your daughter...Damn, these politicians are a fucking joke when it comes to catastrophic events like that...And believe me the leaders that we have here are just as ''not caring'' of their people...Props to your little girl...Originally posted by LincolnWife@Sep 5 2005, 09:51 PM~3759013
Why are some many people acting ignorant in the situation? Sit back and think if it was you, your family, and/or your friends going through this. Would it still be some big ass joke.
My daughter who is almost 10. When out and collected all kinds of things for the children involved in Katrina. She has gotten boxes and boxes of things. I think it's sad that we have children like her wanting to help out more than some adults are. If a child can help make a difference then anyone of you can also!

What you guys have seen on the TV isnt shit compared to what it looks like in real life down there. It looks like someone dropped an atomic bomb on that area. I talked to some volunteers who just returned from delivering supplies down there.... they really put it into perspective when they told me about when they had to turn the trucks around and find a different route because there were so many dead bodies that some of the roads are impassable... thats what they arent showing you on the news. Cities all around the South are taking in families and individuals that have fled the area... theres tons of them in my city right now. The city has opened up shelters all over, people who have a house with a spare room are even going down to the shelters and adopting families and inviting them into their homes. These people dont have shit left to go home to.... just stop and think about that for a minute.... EVERYTHING you have, GONE. Alot of them are talking about just staying here because they have nothing to go back to, they dont have shit but the clothes on their back and their car. Theres people up here who dont know where family members and friends are.... kids up here that dont know where their parents are, or if they are even alive. It might be the worst natural disaster in US history. Its real fucked up!
If you can, you guys should do a car wash or something similar to raise money... because ITS EASY!!!
Heres some motivation....
My wife is a bartender and manager at a steakhouse here... she had the idea Friday afternoon to do a benifit car wash in the parking lot of her work..... she rounded up some volunteers that were off work on Saturday and Sunday and made a few signs for people to hold up by the road, called Advance Auto and asked them if they would donate car wash supplies, soap, mitts, buckets, etc... they did.... the whole car wash for Saturday and Sunday cost them $10, to make the signs..... but it raised a little over $1000 for The Red Cross. This was with NO PROMOTION other than a few people standing by the road with signs that read "Katrina Relief Car Wash ----->". They had a line of cars all day, some people didnt have time to wait and just drove up and gave money.
They are going to do this again next weekend, and are going to try to get the word out on the radio and local papers..... hopefully they get even more donations with a little more promotion next weekend.
This shit was too easy.... if you arent doing anything next weekend, you should think about it. Heres a pic of the money raised in 2 days...

Fidel Castro gave some money??? :0Originally posted by OrangeCounty58@Sep 5 2005, 11:30 PM~3759901
people need help, bottom line. i agree with not having a lot of sympathy for those who could have left, but didnt. some very stubborn people, but at the same time, might not be as logical or trusting as others. that might not be totally there fault. its the minority of people being stupid and shooting at the military/law enforcement. if they do shoot, or rape or steal, they should live witht the consequences. such as being shot themselves. i cant imagine the chaos going on. also, a lot of the money isnt going to those who are still down there. how about those who are displaced? those who did leave but still need food or water. ignorant and narrow minded to think its only impacting one area. if Fidel Castro can give, no reason anyone else cant.
