There was an option for a vacuum operated trunk release for 60's Chevies. You can find them on Ebay sometimes. If you don't care about keeping it original, I would check out the kits that Autoloc makes.

I gettin my paint laid down in two days and am need of a smooth operator to to clear my head on a clean way to install a seleniod for a 66 impala trunk. It s gotta be simple. If you have done this, O Wise One, breath this simple love.
I am a maguyver by nature but am short on the crisp with this one. The lock comes out. This leaves a loose pin. Where do I go.....
