Hi,
This is my first post. My name is Vinnie and I live in London, UK. I have a 54 chevy and I'm trying to install bags on the stock front end. I removed the cross member last week and I apreciate any tips/picture on where to cut/modify to fit a set of contitech 2500.
Thanks
Vinnie

nice to see some older steel in here. i have a 53 chevy 2 door, and joebomber52 has a 52. have you thought about using a after market front end?
need to remove the springs and trim the spring pocket inner lip and wide enough for the bag to inflate deflate with out rubbing
also ditch the sway bar it will only get in the way with a fbss set up you should have no problems it's a bomb, a cruiser your not racing 1/4 mile or track
is the running rear stock?
if you do decide to go with an aftermarket front end such as mustang II or other

let me know i know someone whe will buy your stock front end
hey joe i might have a stock front end for you. ditching the stock front crossmemeber for a mustang II, it will just make fitting the ls1 vette motor easier. how much is it worth? the cross member?
you let me know how much you want from me
and i'll get back to you
need it for a 37 master delux project

i need the whole front member and suspension
ill be scraping the whole shot. cross member, suspension, steering, all of it.

i always seem to bite off a little more then i should. a 350 small block is pretty straight forward, why not do a ls1? im not use to all the electronics. theres like 500 wires on that thing.guess its time to get out the wiring diagrams.

they sell the harnesses for it

if your gonna scrap it then i'll pay shipping
ill definately contact you first before scrapping it. ive found the harnesses, and im sure it will get done, im just use to like 6-8 wires and a fuel line to the carb.

think it will all fit on a pallet?
i live in minnesota so shipping might be high. i know its between 300-400 to ship a pallet to cali from here.

the cups for the front will be 4-4.5 inches in diameter i beleive
and the bottom you can either cup it or plate it

put a hole about an inch away from the upper shock mount
for the air line to pass through

if needed

i am doind a set up on a 49 chevy
sane front end
i can make a set of front brackets for you

i have a customer with a 35 master looking for a 235 but hell the price for it to get here would be huge unless it was free lol

i have a 216 rebuilt from this customers 49 i'm looking to sell
Thanks for the answers.
I was thinking about a MII but over here it will cost me twice of the price in $. It's why I give up and started working on the stock front end.

The engine, gearbox and rear axle came all from a 70 camaro (350/350/10bolts). For the rear I'm thinking to use a 4 link set, so the car will sit real low.

thanks joe for the offer of making the brackets, but I already have a 4 1/2 inch tube and a plate.

Plating the lower arm, trimming the top hat and installing dropped uprights, I should be around 3-4 inches from the ground. Any other way to go further down...I was considering sinking the bottom of the lower arm (1-2 inches) for more clearance...do you think it will be a good idea?

Thanks again.

well
when i did mine originaly the only thing i touched was the coil
i didn't do any thing to nothing else
only springs

and it left me 2.5- 3 inches off the ground

i would say with dropped uprights your front should be on the ground
and in the back i never notched it
so with small notch you'll be on the ground
also
i was running stock wheels and tires

when i had it on wires for about 3 days it scraped like hell
