IS IT MY BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR OR MAYBE A SHORT?

Im pretty
sure my problem is the alternator but not definate! I
have a 1998 Isuzu Amigo 2.2 dohc 4 cyl. and it died
out on me. I bought a new battery and drove it around
the block for about 5 minutes and it worked fine. I
woke up the next morning and it started right up for
work and I drove it in which was about a 25 minute
drive away. By my first break, the battery had started
goin dead and this was about 2 hours from when i
parked it. Another 2 hours later the battery was
completely dead!! So at the end of the day I jumped it
and it started right up! On my way home i was playing
my music but noticed it would not hit the hard bass
and my stereo would shut on and off on its own during
those bass surges! So i got home and turned the car
off and not even 2 seconds later i tried to restart
it, come to find out my battery was already completely
drained!! Is this my alternator problem or do i have a
short? I did have air bags suspension installed in my
truck and i have 2 compressors also running off of the
same battery which is also powering my 1 monitor and
about a 2000+ watt system!!! direct
me in how much higher ampage i should go for my
alternator?

Thanks
EE

My suggestion would be to take it to your local Napa, Carquest, or Schucks/Kragan auto parts store. They can connect it to a system and test it all for free. I would guest it is the altenator as well, but have been wrong before.

high amperage alternator. Or u can buy a power splitter and run 2 batts. u can find it at any autozone. what it does is connects to 2 batts. it has an internal cutoff switch. what that does is when one battery reaches optimal charge it will automatically switch to the other battery and start charging it, and vice versa. i had a friend use one of these when he had the same problem that u r having. so u can run one battery to the car components and the other to the extras, and u wont have to worry about the compressors or ur sound system taking away from ur starting power.

chevyman you are setting him up for failure...
if his alternator cant support the current electrical loads wtf would he add another load (2nd battery) he needs to get a high output alternator, upgrade his under hood wires, get the largest underhood battery and probably an auxillary battery for the back of the ride.
