I want to get hydros already have the pumps & hoses thinking about puttin the hydros on my 41 chevy but im not sure, i heard it just messes up the frame & makes it hard to drive. Would you recommend me putting the hydros or not? & if you do how much inches should the cylinders need & would i need anything special? I have 2 pumps ONE IS A PROHOPPER WITH SINGLE DUMP IN THE BACK IS CCE 2 DUMPS . Thanks

If I was doing a bomb I would keep it simple..one or two batteries.. up down. 6's in front 8's or 10's in the rear.. Your gonna feel the difference but don't be scared of it.. It's not gonna break. I had juiced bombs before its like driving another car but it wil bounce more and roll a little stiffer. No big deal..You shouldnt break anything unless you really try and stress that frame.

I have no problem with a lifted bomb, 3-4 batterys is what Ill go with and run accums in the rear.

No hoppin and 3 wheeling , just keep it clean and simple.

As for me , I would use skinny cylinders for the rear to save on room, but thats ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heres my project car.

Wtf, Ive seen bag *** buckets ride more unstable than a car with hydros.
Ive seen them one this pass weekend on the free way wobbling front to back. Too I seen one wobbling side to side going the freeway also. I have a friend who had a Trailblazer on bags, he too them out cause he said they make his bucket bounced too much.

Ive seen people hack more off their frame trying to make clearence for the bag than just making a 1 1/2 or so hole in the frame for the cylinder.

As for losing its value, there is a lot of bombs out there done up with hydros and I know they wouldnt be sold cheep just because a hydro system was installed.

just my opinion

My opinion on that is the frame wont tweek out if your JUST going up and down. Over locking , hopping and 3 wheeling will take its toll on any car even with bags. All you need is 4 batterys , low volts, still you CAN still damage you frame by the power of hydraulics . But you will know when to stop hitting the switch.

And a set of accums will sooth out the ride.

Y not hydros w/ accumulators? You can just box the frame, close the C-channel, and have no problems w/ it. Just f/ up and down, so the car can sit real low and raise it f/ the rougher roads so it's practical. it would ride great and you'd have no prob w/ the frame. It was done years back all the time, and it can be done today just the same.

Puttin bags on a bomb requires cutting. A lot of it in front.. I know for my 54 it does.

True, not every car has to be done up for street competition . There isnt nothing wrong with just up and down, especially in bombs. The stock frame is strong enough for that.

i got hydros on my bomb for 2 years now! i feel you do it right the first time, you will never ever have problems, my prez paul, helped me do the hydros on this car we did minor frame work like c channel and c notch. and the rest is history, i drive this car hard and im constantly hitting switches, of course you must learn not to lay on the switch. I lay and play all day! goodluck on what ever you do decide to do. im a lowrider guy, so hydros was the only way to go for me!
