I have a 37 Chevy. The front end knee action suspension is bad.

My question is what is the best form to replace or rebuild? The car needs some tlc, but would love to get it back on the road someday. I was thinking of having a mustang II suspension installed. Recently I heard about a Corvette C4 suspension being installed, I guess you could exchange many types of suspensions on.

The current bolt pattern I 6 bolt, Should I go 5 bolt? Or is it possible to stay 6 bolt?

What are your thoughts? I would especially like to hear from people that have bombs or people that have done it.

IMO, I would install a mustang II front suspension. S10 rearend and a 5speed from a 88 and back S10. That would make it easy to juice or bag in the front, rear wouldn't be any different from stick, but have easy replacement parts. The 5 SPD just make it nicer to drive. Can actually get on the hwy and not get ran over. You can find lots of part for the 216 L6

Mustang II. Once you go independent front suspension you'll wonder why you wanted anything else. Make your life easier, not harder.

Thanks Abraxass. Part of my problem is that the car has been in the family since the early 70s. It has gone from one family member to another. My brother who originally bought the car would like it to stay as original as possible. But my opinion is that if the car is a safer vehicle and more dependable that that would make a way to have more fun with it.

The car has a 216 engine right now, and that should be changed out also. I plan on charging the battery up and running it over to a friend who owns a tire shop. I'll let him look at the car for now.

I will most likely talk with my brother soon, to see if I can get his blessing (sort of). Just trying to be respectful of his wishes. The car is mine and I have title to it in my name, so ultimately the choice is mine.

OG trokitas with straight 6s, straight pipes, and straight axles are bad ass if done right. But if you wanna travel with it and still have an OG exterior look, than make your traveling easier and go Mustang II. I'm the third generation owner of my truck and have driven it in both styles.
