You might need a couple to prevent the car from pulling to the right or left, but for the most part shims are not needed for camber

just dump the front jack it up put on jackstands, take jack put under a arm and remove upper balljoint then reattach a arms your springs will not have any tension on them once you releave the pressure and jack it up so you shouldnt have anything to worry about, toss those shims and get all new grade 8 bolts with lock washers and locktite than keep an eye on it id carrry afew wrenchs and check them for awhile but it will be fine
