My friend is on a budget but wants me to paint his car. I use PPG on my cars, which you guys know is expensive. He wants his done for as cheap as he can get away with, and still have good quality. Let me know what you guys recommend.

I know he gets what he pays for... I'm not talking like Wal-Mart brand spray can paint... but there is good quality shit out there that is cheaper than HOK, or PPG, etc...

He wants something that will last, so not junk paint... but something on a budget. I've sprayed NAPA's Crossfire line, which was cheap, and it turned out looking nice. I don't know how well it holds up though. The clear definitely wasn't as nice and deep looking as the PPG.

nason is made buy dupont. cross-fire is good i like the clear its easy to buff and it lays down smooth. valspar is reasonable.

Dupont's Nason is what I use on budget jobs..... Omni by PPG is also cheap, but I don't like it........ I do like there SV serfacer primer though

About how much does the Nason run... I will probably go with that. I am trying to get a ballpark figure of what it will cost him...

92 Caprice, jambs painted. The factory paint is really good on it, so I shouldn't need anything beside primer sealer, base, clear. It will be flaked out in silver flake.

Nason has a realy nice selaer that I use allot, I forgot the number, but it's an acrylic sealer.

Ball parking it from a gallon of seale, base, reducer, and clear. As well as the hardner and flake. I'm guessing less then $500

HAVE USE NASON CLEAR, IT LAYS OUT NICE AND BUFFS VERY NICE, BUT IT WILL DIE BACK IN A MATTER OF TIME. THATS WHY YOU PAY MORE FOR THE GOOD STUFF, IT IS SOO MUCH BETTER.

1 gallon kit of nason is like $70 here for the clear.

Thanks for the advice guys... I know he would be better off going with good supplies... but he cannot save money. As soon as it hits his pocket he spends it. I have been telling him to save up to get some good paint (I'm even doing all the work for free), but he can't do it. His car has been sitting in my garage and yard for over two years now waiting for paint and rims. I just want him to get the damn thing painted. He will store it inside and not drive it a lot so durability shouldn't be too much of an issue.

If anyone else has suggestions, let me know.

Nason....I've used it more than anything else, mainly becuase it's the most common thing here, but it lays down nice, buffs nice, and the price is nice as well. You should be able to get a gallon of Nason Select Base & a gallon of Nason 4:1 clear w/activator for less than $200......I can't remember how much the sealer costs.....
