On a 1980 caddy why would the horn start going off like crazy when it gets below freezing.

The first time it did this I "accidentally" shot at a jogger because I thought they broke into it & was running away.

Then it started doing it when ever it was hella freezing out. The horns are just unplugged now.

the material in the wheel shrinks, bringing the contacts of the switch together

So could I take the front part off the wheel & bend the contacts apart more?

um, im not sure. the contact is a round disc that works on a plunger mechanism (like a starter solenoid). I dont know what the fix is.
