Looking for a business located in Northern California that restores original California black/yellow license plates? Preferably anywhere in the Bay Area.

Thanks in advance!

Every state will give you HELL for it, the plates are not allowed to be altered in ANY fashion. With that being said, you can still take your chance if you want.

That is correct. The section being violated would be 4464VC

Note: I purchased a set of completely restored original 1964 California blk/yel plates/tag from Dave at: http://www.davesclp.com/platesforsale.htm

Note: Original blk/yel plates for 1964 have to be metal stamped on the right hand corner of the plate with
"63", that is the only stamp DMV will accept for the 1964 year registration.

I just got back from DMV, turned in my current personalized plates, filled out "YOM" (year of manufacture) form available online and paid $45.00 for the new registration without DMV even raising an eyebrow! As long as the plates are "clear" (not registered to any other vehicle) in their database, your car is currently registered, and you turn in your old plates, then you're good to go!

I'm sure every DMV office is office and each one can raise hell, maybe I just got lucky, or the person behind the desk was in a good mood, but damn if I didn't walk out of that office one smiling man!!!

If you have any questions on this process for Cali plates, hit me up!
