If you are talkin about chromaflair ,, there are 8 different colours and also the new one spectraflair ,, these are sold to major paint companies and they mix them into there paint system and give them a name eg ... cameleon,, chromalusion,, etc..
all these colours in come in raw form ,, which is powder ,,
heres a new name www.rage-extreme.com they call it ILLUSION but what you have to realise is it comes in a powder and only 1 company makes the actual powder and they are called flex ,, and product chromaflair ..
The benefits of havein this in powder would be you could mix your own strengths into clear or base/binder to give unique effects ..
got any pics of this paint?

it is like flake... or better yet the ice pearls that they offer... You just spray them over a black base to get the effect shown....
here are some pics:

That shit is so expensive though... like 250-300 for 2 oz, shit, people thought that the ice pearl was expensive @ 70 for 2 oz.

so how much would or what would i all need to complete that look?
I use about 10-20g in a litre of base/binder before thinned and then sprayed over black this is the blue/red pigment .. And put on about 3-5 coats .. so you need about 3 litres before thinner to do a car ..

can you show me where they sell it because the only kameleon pearl made by HOK is the one that I just posted pics of..... Have you ever seen the ice pearls???? They are a flake too, but they change colors hence the pearl name. If you want kameleon paint, here it is http://www.innate.com/HOK/Kameleon.htm 450 a quart, should only need a gallon or so(un-reduced) to do a medium-large size car. Otherwise Dupont makes it, so does PPG I believe, they all have different names for it but it pretty much looks the same. When I look for a paint color for my car.... as I am right now.... I will usually just go here:
https://secure14.websitecomplete.com/blackg...ept.asp?dept=29

It may be a bit expensive, but I would rather have a $30 model look like shit than my show car. It also lets you try different combinations without spending a ton of money on supplies. If you are looking for a color changing paint, but don't want to spend a ton, go with the designer pearls... if you have seen the GTO in XXX then you know what it looks like when you put 2 designer pearls on top of each other. BTW, if you were wondering, that was a baby blue base, intercoat clear, razberry pearl, intercoat clear, lake violette pearl, clear.

when you combine firemist pigments ,, I mean ice pearls you can create multicoloured effects ,, could be wrong ,, but thats what the kameleon flake looks like to me ,, Ice pearl is actually a glass pigment ..
The kameleon flake will give a similar effect but nowhere near the same effect as the original chromaflair (kameleon pearl base coat) but i does give an original look ,, And yes Ive used the firemist ,, I mean ice pearl pigments before ,,.. and created the same effects ..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
pearl will never give the same effect as chromaflair(kameleon) but can make beatufill combinations at much less price ,, using mutiple layer effects you'd also use much more product and cost more this way ..

well im wanting to paint it damu red,"kinda a blood red, with red flakes, soi was thinkin of doing that damu red base, then flakes, then intergrade alittle of the red into the clear for a somewhat kinda looks then do my final clear!! what doyou think about that?
on a scale of 1-10 10 being highest for the amount of flake, i was thining of going with about a 7 or a 8.
I usually stick on the low side for flaking over colours as It builds effect quite quickly ,, .. the best way is to get a sample and spray somethin small ,, I always end up changin a few times the quantities to get better colour or effect ..
sounds good though ..!!
The cameleon peal is nothing more than a pearl the changes from a wider spectrum of colors. You cant use it to make a color chameleon you can simply spray it over it and it looks like metallic that changes color. Its ahrd to explain but it looks really good, good for ghost graphics especially over black.
The big mis understandin here though is the difference between the flake version and the original camellion ,, made by two tottaly different products ..
Oh ,, and heres another .. this product is only 1/10 the ''$PRICE$'' of the original camellion ,, ..

If you want Affordable Chameleon Paint check out these guys: TheCoatingStore.com. They have chameleon paint car kits with base, chameleon, and clear for less than 400! There are some videos of cars painted at that link and they flip nice. They have like 10 colors you can choose from.

They also have the Chameleon Pearl Powder for the best price I have found. It's less than half the cost of the same stuff from HOK.

They also have Mirror Reflective Chrome Paint for like less than half the cost of what ALSA charges. :wow:

If you prefer the Candy Paint they will sell you a gallon of silver base, gallon of Kandy, and a gallon of clear with all reducer and activators for $300.

They have a ton of good reviews on ebay. Check em out! TCS Reviews
