wats better to do let the color coat dry and then sand and apply clear or let clear dry for 20 min than apply clear, the guy who sold me the paint said to let color dry for 20 min than apply clear for matlic paints and for all others he said let it dry a day than sand and apply clear is this true and if it is wat grit do i use when sanding the clear.

i never let the base dry overnight unless i lay some graphics just spray the clear after 1/2 hour of base and be done with it........

Color sanding before the clear is mostly done on showcars.......to give it that really really flat and level look........but it's not necessary.

and it can be done with both solid and metallic, only in metallic you apply one more light coat of base after the sanding then the clear....

But in you're case............Just wait 20-30 minutes and clear.
