Much better with chains.

I had 2 cars coil under

1982 cutlass

1986 cutlass

I had the 82 had a problem with loosing the spring with a rooling 3

added chains and a clip that held them on to the axle, And a connection to the cylinder cup, Problem solved.

Then added the chains It really tied it all together. Standing 3 with coil under.

The only thing i liked about a coil under setup

You dont get the cylinder action in, firing into the trunk

what i didnt , driving down the road and the donut hitting the bridge.

ker chunk ker chunk.

A coil under could be a better setup set up right.

You can always build a perch behind the axle, and lowered down to the ground,
Then use a huge spring under the car and a coil under bridge, much further back in the trunk

The best coil under setup , would be a
1 a hydrohaulics cylinder
2 a hydrohaulics power ball over cylinder rod.

welded into the bridge.

THen chain the cylinder bottom cup, to the axle On 2 sides

Or use playground equipment like I did back in the day to tie to lock the spring solid to the cylinder to axle
