i need to drive about 5 hours to get a new transfer case for my expedition because it's locked on 4x4 so i was wondering if i could damage anything by driving that long with the 4x4 on? i know i'll get bad gas milage but i need to do this.

Unless that 5 hour path is covered in snow or gravel, you're in for a bad experience.
dayum!
i dont think he means the rear is locked, the transfer case is just stuck in 4wd.

youll be fine.
You ever drive a 4x4 in 4WD on dry pavement?

not in low gear
Even in high gear going straight is fine, but once you try to turn that truck is gonna feel like it wants to rip itself in half.
it's stuck on 4x4 high if that makes a diffrence? i've been driving it around town since i don't have any other car right now and it seems fine only thing is when i turn the wheel really sharp it's hard to turn? but since i'm gonna be on the freeway will i be ok?
not good for it, its not designed to operate at that high of speed engaged. you may wreck something.

what if i drove it at 60 mph? in the manual it say's going high speeds with 4x4 is not recommended and will put stress on the transfer case but sine the transfer case is ruined what else can happen?

i've tooken it on the freeway before and it doesn't feel like that. the only time is feels like it wants to rip in half is when i'm making a sharp turn.

That's what I said.

Why would you have to drive it 5 hours on the freeway to get a transfer case anyway? Nobody closer than 300 miles away has one? :ugh:

bingo.

ive owned a few full time 4wd's and never had any problems. the 4wd will not make it a bad trip or even a rough ride. if that was the case, they wouldnt make 4wd cars and fulltime 4wd vehicles, but i would drop the front driveshaft if you can, you'll be taking it off when you change out the transfer case anyway. even if you dont, just dont drive like a madman and you should be cool.
i'm having a homie take off the driveshaft tommarow and he said it will be out of 4x4 and that i won't need a new transfer case because i told him i won't be using it anymore. is this true that i won't need a new transfer case now that i'm having the drive shaft removed?
