i got 1 12" FI Q in a ported box tuned to 30hz. Its VERY deep and very clean. Scott at FI designed the box and I built it. hits 141db off of 1500w bench tested audiobahn amp. Been beating it HARD 2-3 times a week for 2 years now!!

This is a good example of how you dont need to spend a shit load of money to get good results, do a little homework and spend your money in the rite places and you can hit hard on a budget!!! Wow 30hz is rite outside the threshold for hearing, a sound wave at 30hz is about 45 feet long.

Yes, the reason I got this setup was to save room, why have two subs when you can make 1 sound the exact same or better.

Humans cant hear 20 or under I believe. Sure can feel it tho!

its craaazy deep, kinda sux for alot of songs that play them high bass notes but when you find those songs with deep bass notes WOW, havent found a song with a deep enough note that it cant play. Deep bass notes do amazing things with your body panels and roof when played, big flexing!

its 37'8" long but whos counting point is its really low for a tuning frequency of a box for a 12" sub. fi makes really well put together equiptment

yup 20hz-20khz is a humans threshold.

What steps did you take to tune an enclosure to a specific hz?

i think you ment to say 20hz was 56.5 feet long. 20khz is .678 of an inch

i thought pascals was a unit of measure of pressure not length?

Just ordered the sub, told FI I want the sub to sound its best, told them the dimensions of space I had to use and they drew me up diagrams of how to build the box. Then I built it. Added some aluminum plate and vinyl to the box to make it look nice and used a countertop edger to round the edges. Its actually 2.6cubes and 30hz. Im sure youre aware of RE's site and carstereo.com's box calculators but Ive used both and both dont work for me. One doesnt figure sub displacement and others dont say if its inside dimensions or outside. Either way I havent got any to sound good. However FI calculates it it definately works. My buddy has a soundlab and it hit 141db in my 00 deville with the back seats in and the car has that metal wall behind the seats.

Diagram not to scale

Your correct i fucked up i meant 20hz. pascal is a unit of pressure or stress and thats a basic explanation, its used more in weather than audio. I guess what i was getting at is 20 hz is the lowest we can here and so is .00002 pascals i believe 20k is 200 pascals. Borrrring!!
