Kevlar: Usually a lighter weight material than fiberglass. Simply because the fibers in Kevlar are much stronger, requiring less material to achieve the same strength. Hand laid, more likely to have problems with construction.

Fiberglass: Generally heavier weight however brittle. Material is more likely to have problems with construction. Fiberglass is easily cracked and not easy to repair.

kevlar is used to make bullet proof vests and racing helmets etc .. and to strenghten many things -- very high strength liquid crystal polymer 5 times the strength of steel developed by dupont and pretty expensive ..

dont know if this is out of date or not.back in the day all we used was long-strong to do the rear panels.it was just fiberglass with the cloth shredded up in it already.just mix with hardner and spread on.it was used to stop the rear from buckling.mabey 15 or 20 bucks a gallon?

we built a go kart with a dual layer bottom, kevlar on the pavement, and carbon fiber for the inside..

pretty easy to work with..

*** Well, My chinease buddy wants to start making carbon fiber & carbon / kevlar items for his 240SX ....We have been looking into materials & equipment to do so..... We are going on on a big roll of carbon / kevlar because it is strong & not as expensive as we thought......
