Can you tell by eyeballin it or do you have to run the #s? What's the good and bad for each? I'm sure I'll get some chevy fans on here telling me to buy a chevy -- got one of those too!!

Cleveland 351s had 8 valve cover bolts, WIndsors had 6, Clevelands did not have water outlets on the intake manifold, while Windsors did..

don't quote me on this, it's what I've observed, a couple Ford friends confirmed it to be true, but I'm not 100%

From what I've seen, Clevelands were good, but now Windsors are better hands down...

On a windsor, the thermostat housing bolts to the intake & turns up to a 90* angle(like a 302 or 289).

However on the cleveland the thermostat housing attaches to the block & points straight up. That motor doesn't have coolant running through the intake.
Don't confuse the Cleveland with the 351/400 "modified" motors. They look the same except on the M engines There is a "m" or a "2" stamped one of the top corners of the heads near the valve covers.
Also the front of the block to the right of the distributor it has an elevated ridge(1/2"), where as the cleveland doesn't, its just flat.
I think the Boss-302 engines are essentially a destroked 351C, but chances are yur not going to find one of those.

Also, Fords suck it big ;) .

How to tell a windsor from a cleveland?
The Cleveland has an Indian on it and there is nothing for the Windsor.

The Windsor is like a "large" 289/302 where the Cleveland is more like a "small" Big Block Chevy in layout.
