Hi,

Can you help me please.

just wonder to know if I would like to put Glasspacks on my V6 Monte 82' do I have to use Catalytic Converters as well?

Glasspacks works like Catalytic Converter or not ? Can I pass smoke test with Glasspacks only?

Thanks for helpfull ideas.

no they are not the same. if your car requires smog check you will not pass with out cats. cats are to clean the exhaust and glass packs are a type of muffler.

1. Glasspacks are mufflers so YES, you will need to keep the catalytic if you want to pass smog.
2. Catalytic Converters are emission reducers and glasspacks (mufflers) are used to modify noise, either louder or quieter.
3. You cannot pass smog with glasspacks only... YOU WILL NEED YOUR CATALUTIC CONVERTER TO PASS!!!

Here are some links to give you more input.

as everyone said keep the cat.. and u'll be happy with that $20-30 muffler... just wait till it burns in itll get way louder.. you might not like it after. so keep the stock one if its still good.

i think glasspacks sound and look better on bigger cars like impalas or caprices
X's 4 glasspacks are for 60's cars, 70's and up should be clean and QUIET.
