i paid 150 shipped for mine, and you don't need high voltage on your pre outs, this is what the gain is for on amps ;)

sux that you paid 223, cuz i could get the same thing for 190 ;) http://www.cardomain.com/item/PANCQC8301U

and i bet i can find it cheaper

the good thing about higher voltage preouts, is it lets you run the gain lower on your amp...which means a lower noise floor

yes..another piece of useless hardware is always the answer!!

why not? always something else to blow money on, speacially when you don't "need" a 5 volt pre out hu, because it doesn't put that out till full volume anyhow ;)

i prefer to keep the least amount of hardware as possible. why have 5 or 6 seperate units when you can just get a deck that has what you need. each one of those pieces is just another point of entry for noise into the system.

true, but i'm happy with what i got, 2.5v is better than no pre outs, or using line level converters.

Not always true. Boss or Pyramid 2.5V is probably actually inferior to a good quality LOC

wow, congrats on knowing the gain isn't for a volume, because thats not why you turn it up with lower voltage pre out head units :uh:

I thought Sean was the one with the attitude problem? Or was he only a problem because he knew what the hell he was talking about?

The gain control IS NOT a volume knob. The gain control adjusts the sensitivity of the inputs of the amp to the power level output of the source unit. This means that the gain will have to be higher at 2.5V than it would at 5V to produce the same SPL. The lower the input voltage the higher the gain has to be set to balance the equation.
