Hazard lights on a 64 Impala?

Can anyone tell me if this is required? I broke down the other night in the middle of a busy street, cops showed up and instead of helping with the situation, fuckers harassed me for a while and gave me a ticket for no hazards. Later I was told by a few people that old cars like that don't even have hazards.

It was an option.
Most do not have those.
You should fight that ticket.
I was searching online for the CA vehice code but couldn't find anything about hazards :(

Call your local CHP office and read them the vehicle code that the cop wrote on your ticket. That will tell you exacly what he wrote you up for was it a fix it ticket (infraction) or was it a citation in either case your car did not come with hazard lights unless it had the optional switch. Like the other homeboy said Fight that Shit go to court!!!

your car is "Grandfathered" out of this law. Just like seatbelt tickets
u need to fight that ticket homie, i've never seen hazards until like the 70's models, i didn't even know it was an option
Damn pigs  I will definitely fight this. I did find all the traffic violation codes on the dmv website so I'll have to look that up later. I just wanted to have some solid back up when I fight it. It's just a fix it ticket, but it's the principalities of the matter .

I heard about seat belts not being inforced but are you actually allowed to ride around without cause I find that hard to believe.

figures......fuckin' cops

Mine don't have them either
If your from california. It's a 10 dollar fix-it ticket...

Have someone hook up a after market switch... case closed!

Grandfathered is when they bring you INTO a new law, not out.
