Yes you can, I did on my '95 Impala SS. I used a headlight relay from Painless Performance that connects directly to my battery. I'm using the Sylvania Silverstars bulbs and the relay made them look brighter at night.

You must use a headlight relay for headlights bro. If you did them directly to the batt they would melt the wires and one would be dimmer than the other. I dont know why but thats how it does sometimes.

if you want to you can take the positive wire from your old headlights and use it to trigger the relay and then still use your headlight switch but still get power direcxtly from your battery

That's exactly how the Painless relay works.
