I concur. How do you fix it, you ask. Depends where it is messed up at. I would start by checking by the shift linkage that you can see. Look for any wires it my be brushing against. If you get lucky it will be out where you can get at it and fix it easy... Worse case senario pull the steering wheel and the connection rotor on the back side of the steering wheel, look for broken or wiring that the upper shift column would be hitting. And lastly, you will have to pull the outer column to trace the complete wiring to find the point of failure. Good luck, my guess would be it is behind the steering rotor for the wire connections.
