im gonna be redoing a regal and it has 2 layers of paint and 2 of high build primer over the factory paint. would it be fine just to block/sand this paint or at least take it down to the factory paint? im worried about it building up and becoming too thick.

it all depends what kind of paint job you want.
you have enough material to block down
get some 80-120 grit and start blocking that sucker down

what kind of base was it....you could just out candy over it!

its not going to be a full show car, but its gotta be clean and straight. i just painted it, but the owner didnt want to work for a straight ass car, so we blocked it once with a short block and that was it.

i guess its time for the longboard and some 80 grit.
