Inserting pictures into your post

You can easily add pictures to your post by using any of the many available image uploaders on the web. Below are a few suggested sites to try:

http://www.photobucket.com/

Here's a quick how-to guide on using tinypic.com to get a picture in your post:

Note: The example above is only one of many sites where you can host your pictures. If you have trouble using it, try some of the others:

The following is some general information on how to post pictures in your topics.

The recommended way is to upload your pictures to other web sites and use the IMG code to show them in your posts. This is the best way to get images in your topics as it keeps the forums running faster since they are linked off the site.

For detailed information on showing images in your posts, check out the How to post pics guide.

The "How to post pics" guide has some information on getting pictures onto your own personal web space so you can link to them in your posts, but there are also other web sites where you can upload images. Below is a list of a few good ones. Some of these site may require you create a free account before you can start uploading pictures.

Example on how to link to a picture on another website:

Right click a picture to see it's properties and get the URL:

In your post, add the picture between an IMG tag:

<s>If you have trouble using off-site pictures as described in the How To Post Pics guide then you can add the picture as an attachment to your post. Refer to the following picture for a quick explanation of how. Please note that there is a limit of 500kb for each post and you are also limited to the amount of total space you can use on your account. If you find yourself running out of space, you can clear out old attachments under My Controls --> Manage Your Attachments.</s>

[attachmentid=145003]

edit: Note that direct image attachments may not always work. It's suggested you host the picture on a different site and link to it. See the post below for details.

The option to upload pictures directly in your posts has been disabled.

If you have been on this site during peak hours recently, you've noticed how the forums will start to run slowly and eventually lead to "server too busy" messages. I'm testing a few things to see how much of an impact they have on the server load. For now the disabling of image uploads is planned to only be temporary while I evaluate the effect it has on the server.

In the meantime, you can easily add pictures to your post by using any of the many available image uploaders on the web. Below are a few suggested sites to try:

Here's a quick how-to guide on using imageshack to get a picture in your post:

Note: The Imageshack example above will only work with thumbnail images. It is only one of many sites where you can host your pictures. If you have trouble using it or you would rather post full size pictures instead of a thumbnail link, try some of the others:
