My brother in law says he has some Real D's for sale I told him i did not believe they were D's. They would be the pre stamped dayton logo d's. I thought that back in the day real d's were stamped on the back of the hub with 225. is there any way to determine player's vs daytons. other than the new stamped d's which everyone knows are d's. i am thinking about buying them but i would like to know what i am getting into. thanks.

well player is no different then any other wire wheel...

there are really 3 types of wire wheels

dayton
zenith
and the rest

zenith well the hub/knock off are totaly different...

daytons are stamped on the hub behind the spokes..
the newer daytons are stamped on the outerlip of the wheel beside the hub
( but dayton's did not start stamping there wheels till late 90's /earyl 00's)

the rest of the wire wheels
galaxy
player
og
mclean
l.a.
gangstar
roadster
roadstar
ect....
they all make quantiy of wheels... some go with china made poor quality..
but even if they where built with the best of quility
they still would not compair to dayton or zenith

but from what i understand
dayton and zenith are the only 2 stainless steel wheels
( wont ever rust)

so to figure out a pre stamped dayton to a normal wheel..?????its hard...
first do u see any rust, thats a start.

also count the spokes..
13/7 dont make 100 spokes... 72 and 88 spokes are dayton...

other then that i can just say

buy it for cheap enoff that if you find out its not a dayton after you buy them
you atleast have the e-z that you didn't get fucked over

no wheel is really a peice of shit, unless your laying dasyton price for china wires.

the trend used to be(for show cars) to get some D's and the rest were chippin'. Now, its get the cheapest wheels and have them painted, striped anodized engraved and color matched.

I still like my mcleans,I dont really like classifieing them in the 3rd category, but wheels are like everything else, each brand had there hayday, and quality will change within a brand

I remember wanting a set of 14x7 roadsters, or were they roadstars then?
