I have a cadillac engine it is the 5.7 so regular 350 gm with the tbi on it will that intake fit on an 85/86 or older chevy engine or are the heads different. So if I wanted to carburate this engine will it work. It doesn't have the spot for the mechanical fuel pump though right? Also the computer in it for the tbi will a regular stand alone wire harness like the painless work with it or is there a bunch of different computers in them like is this computer the same as in the 88-98 chevy trucks with the tbi?

save the headache and just buy the aftermarket intake for that 350 i think that year came with vortec heads so you will need to buy an after market intake anyway

So don't put the orignal tbi intake on another engine? Or an aftermarket intake will let the tbi fit but will bolt up to older heads??

if you wanna run a carb on the caddy 5.7 you will need to get the aftermarket intake for that 5.7 iam not sure if the older tbi intake will even fit that newer 5.7

thats not a vortec engine, not in 91. but you can get a intake specifically for that engine. the center 4 bolts on the intake are drilled at a 90 degree angle instead of 45 degrees like the rest of the bolts. you could just get a normal aluminum edelbrock or weiand intake and drill out the center bolts or get the right intake, ive used tbi engines before and used both intakes, and for the fuel id get a external electric fuel pump, like a carter or a holley.

So the 91 intake wont fit on an older chevy engine I wanted to use it on an older engine and hook up the tbi and have the option of doing carb if I don't like it.The older engine is carb. Does that make sense?

WELL HOMIE..... THIS INTAKE WILL FIT(heres the manifold
http://www.northernautoparts.com/ProductMo...ductModelId=586), BUT FUEL PUMP IN THE TANK HAS TOO MUCH PSI! U CAN INSTALL A REGULATOR, OR U WILL NEED THE PUSH ROD FOR THE OLD STYLE FUEL PUMP. INSTALL A CARB(ELB) WITH A ELECTRIC CHOKE, AND A OLD STYLE DISTRUBTOR(77-79) WITH VAC ADVANCE. THE NEW STYLE DIST(80-97 IS COMPUTER CONTROLLED) ...... U CAN'T CONTROL THE TIMING! DONT NEED NO COMPUTER NOW HOMIE! HOLLA BACK......

The computer controlled distributors are nothing more than computer controlled advance, you can run one disconnected from the computer with no problems

Not true, the computer controlled distributor still has the same centrifugal advance as every other stock distributor, you will not get the extra advance, so you'll burn a little more fuel, but it's no different than running an aftermarket distributor without vacuum advance..

I have the computer with it you see I was thinking of a hopper I have the whole 91 engine but I also have an older engine In a car I'm gonna sell. I thought of pulling the older engine putting it on a stand and throwing this 91 engine in that car and adding carb and selling it. I wanted to keep the older engine and when I found a car for a hopper putting in the older engine and running the tbi and if it's not what I want I can always change it out to a carb.. Sorry if I explained it all fucked up earlier
