is it necessary to use bondo? I know it's a lot more welding but like on the old customs when they shave the door handles they dont use any bondo. i was wondering if you just grind the weld good would that be enough? or wwould tne sheet metal be wavy or somthing like that?

i've done tons of frames... and got diff techneeks of doing em that i gotta keep secret... but the fiberglass one sux... u get all itchy and u gotta uze dura-glass on it then bondo on top... its not worth it a gallon of dura-glass is 30 dollars and its very thick it took me half a gallon to put a thin coat on my firewall(just over the sheet metal that i welded over the whole about foot n a half by 21/2 feet).... so doing a whole bike should waste about the same if not more....now about the just sheet metal and welding... your gunna needa put a nice bead all across the sheet metal to fill in the gap then alot of grinding time to make it nice n smoothe...best off puttin bondo...
