  Okay, today i was on my way to the grocery store and i go around the corner and all the sudden my car starts making a loud whining sound from underneath. I get it off the side of the road and "play" with it and the noise gets louder the louder i rev my engine. Well, finally i hear some sort of noise and the whining goes away. Now, the noise is gone but it only stays in first gear, no reverse either. I figure the transmission now needs a rebuild, but is there by chance anything else i should look for. Also, about what would it cost to get it rebuilt, its off of an 1983 Coupe Deville, with a 4100. I know its probably from them damn 13's, but oh well, i knew that was a risk. So what should i look to spend for a rebuild, or is there anything else i should check first??

That sucks, go for a 350 now and tranny

1. put car in nuetral
2. put gas pedal to the floor
3. shift car from N to D very fast
4 repeat steps 1-3 for a nice slipery transmission

AAMCO is fucking rediculous, i went to them this morning and they told me $1300 for a rebuild. Called someone else and they told me $600 and they both come with the same warranty 12 mo/12,000 mile.

the shop i work for does them for like 800 with a 1 year warrenty also if u have an overdrive thrans it should be a 2004r and the sunshell strips out on them causeing this problem it kinda common with these transmissions ,find someone in your town who does them on the side a new sun shell is like 30 bucks and a kit is 75-100 must people charge 100-200 labor depending on what u want to replace and if it broke anything else

ever think about hitting the Junkyard? drop maybe $150 if you pull it yourself, try to find one that's wrecked and/or check the fluid, make sure it's pink with no metal
