just purchased the car from my uncle and he was having problems out of the carb so rebuilt it and now it isn't idling right, what might be done to fix this problem, it has the factory 3.8 two barrel carb.

how is it idling?
you have to keep giving it gas to keep it running, it starts up fine

so, low idle..
there is an idle adjustment screw, the throttle "Arm" usually rests on it, just turn it back until the engine gets adequate gas at idle
I have the same car but 82 i have the same problem, but mine is my carb.. i think.. if u turn the idle up too much it will diesel when u turn it off... meaning it will keep running after its off ( dance)
could also be a vacumm leak.. does it only do it in the morning or when u first stay the car? then run fine the rest of the day?
post when u figure out the problem i wanna know
haven't picked the car up but i asked my uncle today and he said the thinks it might be a vacuum leak also because he said the vac. lines were pretty dry rotted so i believe that might be the problem.
it's probably a vacuum leak. you can usually hear it if it's a vacuum leak, if you listen closely. if you can't hear it, get a can of carb cleaner and spray lightly around the intake/carb area while it's running, if it stumbles when you spray a specific area, there's your leak, hasn't failed me yet.

correction.
carb cleaner wil make it die u want to use starter fluid so it will rev up.. if u spray it directly into air cleaner or carb it will stumble..
