Anyone have any suggettions on what to use for front stage,(mids and highs) in the front of my 85 Brougham? It comes with some 4x6s in the dash but these arent enough.
Are there any custom fit aftermarket kick panels available? What about a good set of 4x6s?

you can check crutchfield.com or cardomain.com to see if they make any kick panels for your vehicle... if not, i would say to try and make some or if at all possible, rig up a cut out in your door and a door jam. i personally have never heard any 4x6's that where worth buying, im mostly pleased with 6.5's and 6x9's...
Shit ive been looking for something for a minute too, I am probably going to have somebody make me some out of fiberglass :uh:
i bought a nice set of planet audio 4x6's in my 77 lac and my high end screams now. you have alot of room where the 4x6's are, you could put something else in there with a little bit of modification.
:uh: I priced around for some custom made vinyl wrapped fiberglass panels and all the shops wanted at least $400, bastards.
i cut out the 4x6 holes and threw in some 5 1/4 jl's
Planet Audio, JVC, Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine, Sony, etc., etc. don't have nothing on Infinity Kappa Series. Check them out at your local store. They are expensive but boy do they sound loud and clear. Don't go for the reference though, go for the Kappas. Get a price at a local store and I bet I can beat it!!!

By the way, they are 2ohm speakers. Know what that means? It means that they suck out the most wattage out of your amps so you get louder, stronger, clearer sound. Look at the specs on your amp and what may it say?

40w x 2 @ 4ohms
80w x 2 @ 2ohms

Am I right? Wouldn't you rather run them at 2 ohms and get 80 watts out of your amp rather than running them @ 4 ohms and only getting 40 watts? Shop around for other 2 ohm speakers and I doubt you'll find them.  ;)

Put it this way, here are the specs on their 4x6 speakers;

General
MSRP U.S. $ 149.95
Power Handling, RMS 60 Watts
Power Handling, Peak 180 Watts
Sensitivity 94dB
Frequency Response 75Hz - 25kHz
Mounting Depth 1-15/16"
Impedance 2 Ohms

General
Plus One woofer cones - This patent pending technology deliver a cone with more surface area than competing models of the same size. The result is increased bass output and higher efficiency. Edge-driven MMD dome tweeter - These are not commonly used W-domes, but fully edge driven domes like those found in fine home audio loudspeakers. This much larger voice coil increases power handling and provides better sonic integration with the mid-woofer. Woven glass fiber woofer cone material is extremely stiff, minimizing cone flex which yeilds very low distortion and improved clarity, an Infinity trademark. SLI high-output design. Conventional 4-ohm speakers do not leverage allof the power available from today's car audio amplifiers and high-powered head units. This topology extracts every last watt from the amplifier source, increasing overall system output and efficiency. Computer-optimized voice-matched crossovers - Each Kappa multielement and component system features a crossover that has been voice-matched using audiophile grade air core inductors and polypropylene capacitors. The result is flawless performance with incredible detail and accuracy. Adjustable tweeter level-Each Kappa multielement features a user adjustable tweeter level control. On the two-way models, simply rotate the tweeter to add or subtract 3dB output. On the three-way models and plate, it is the simple push of a button right on the tweeter faceplate.

Which set? Model?
i dont know what model, they were 6.5's. i was really impressed, i'll own a set before it's all said and done. they really did remind me of when mb quart was the shit. they were crisp but not tinny like most other midranges. kinda made me kick myself in the ass for not buying the cdt 6x9's that were on ebay a few months ago. i think they ended up going for under 100$. i wish i would have seen steve meade's videos of the FI's before i ordered my big bang 15(pictures coming when it gets here.)

had more to say but a naked baby just ran through the room, gotta go see what happened to the diaper. all said and done, get the cdt's you wont be disapointed.
my CDT EF 6.5's with the satnet 480 are REALLY nice, i'm going to finish the front stage up with another set of midranges and imaging tweets in my a-pillars fired towards the front windshield...
http://stores.ebay.com/The-CDT-Store

you can get a pair of 6.5" CDT Classics for 99.99

they also hav 6x9 woofers for 99.99/pair. i think thats what im leaning torward.

where can i hear these CDT's at??

ummm, you might have to take a leap of faith... i got my componants for $225 and i think the retail was $498 or sumthin around there... you just gotta ask around, and hopefully someone you have faith in will say "i would buy a set!"...

i have been leaping for a while, all the way from my first install, to my HU, to RE's, to image dynamics, and the list goes on...

BTW, the ID coaxils have GREAT SQ but dont get as loud as i would like 'em too, and dont push them past their RMS, they cant handle it (their rated @ 60w and i was givin them 90-100w @ 75hz cross, lasted for about a week)
so how much is a decent price to pay for some custom 6.5 fiberglass kick panels?????
