Hello Everyone,

Let me introduce you to my "FUNKIN' 70" Impala Sport Coupe.
I picked it off of Craigslist in July 2008 for real cheap. It was a great find since it was a fastback. It was not running and missing some engine parts, but it came with some camel hump heads.

Many more updates to come...

Within a week or two after getting the car.

I found a hood, grille, front & back bumpers locally. I installed the front one and the hood.

RUST

Removed the air conditioning, not really needed in San Diego.

Took my fenders to school to do some patchwork.

*Disclaimer* First time patching anything and doing rust repair *Disclaimer*

First fender

In the school welding room.

Cut out most of the bad metal.

Put some Rust Mort overnight.

Second fender

Wire brushed any loose rust, then more Rust Mort on the fenders.

Did a small patch to test my welding, then sprayed them because they were going to be outside for a few weeks.

Cut out and shaped some sheet metal.

Didn't take picture for a couple days.

1-13-09

Welded some new metal and grinded the shit out of it. Looks ugly but will never be seen. I plan to grind and clean it up a little more.

Began working on the exterior patch and also I used some weld through primer.

Then I started to rebuild the lower part, small patches and weld.

Almost finished with one fender.... :uh:

The colors I am thinking of going with for this car. Dark blue paint, with either with a black vinyl top or dark blue vinyl top.

Yup, Jimmy has been giving me some tips on it and Mr. Alvarez is around helping out some of the new guys. Its a cool class, have learned a lot in the past 6 months, but this is my first time doing any of the welding/repair. When did go to that class?

I don't have any extra eyebrow chrome, the pieces I have are all dented up. So I am looking for some clean ones. Then I will try to repair the old ones for practice. :biggrin:

where did you score the bumpers.........i'm lookin' for a rear bumper in san diego
