can there be a new hop class for street riders (daily riders)

no weight
no major suspension mods.

stock car with little reinforcement. NO extra.

and would this bring out more hoppers to shows.

some people say they want to hop but not against shops and BABS.

then shows can have catagories for everyone.

whats the difference between a shop built single pump, and a rider built single pump? the fact that the rear is done in 3/8s and the front has a few patches of 1/8" here and there?

I mean, rules are pretty tight againt mods and leading anyway.

ok well what would your rules be to separate.

see there are alot of small shows in alot of cities.

if we start some new rules what would there be and would more people enter.

I see your point. When peeps go to a show they want someone to put on a show. Kinda like when you go to the strip club. You don't want to see average girls with stretch marks and scars.

yeah but if people work hard to build their cars they will hit.

and by the way

i did say have classes.

if a group of car are doing in the 40s.

and another group in the 50- 60s

and a few that are BABS that do 80 whats wrong with that.

the BIG money will never come into hopping when people just throw up weight and float.

im not saying dont allow BABS out there just have a class for guys that dont want to compete with a junk yard car.

but anyway -- i know that guys all over america can build cars that get way up without it. and then we will have way more guys that can drive a daily driver up hop good and drive home.

this forum has enough info to help guys do it.

All IMO...

I don't think it would really matter to average fan. Looks like the average fan wants to see inches, flying parts and fires.

It's a monetary issue for the promoters. Less cash spent on the hoppers = less crowd excitement. It's not like the average fan is technically minded to appreciate the time, money, sweat, creative thinking and everything else that goes into a hopper.

I can't help but think Battle-Bots have a more technically minded fan. Meaning, if a guy hops 55" with stock everything and say 6 batteries, and the Shop owner hops 60" with 8 batteries, I am thinking not too many in the crowd would appreciate the 55".

The crowd needs to come from a different perspective, stock hopping needs to be hyped up as a more refined way of hopping.

Not sure why the limit on batteries was increased from 6 to 8, but I got a feeling it was crowd appeal.

Like I used to say and still do, I'd like to see a class (or just forget LRM hops alltogether and see other promoters) with cars using 4-6 batteries. An example would be, (IMO) that there are not going to be any more records, a cars height is limited by it's back bumper. (talking non radical here). But!, if you can reach that same height, using less and less batteries, THAT IS something for us technically mined people to appreciate .

well I think the fans have been spoiled, hitting 50",even if it is on 6 batts, will never excite someone after seeing a car flip over on its back and catch fire.

I mean even the people who appreciate a clean car thats efficient and doesnt fall apart, we still get entertained by the radicals with more weight in the back than the front, and horrible engineering, fling a grille into the crowd as it settles on its rear like a trained cat.

I say do away with some hopping classes and promote dancing. how about a street dancing class? used to see more street style dancers a decade ago, and they were judged on style and rythym, not just speed, flippage and part-flingery

ya the rules are tight. but the diference is the shops are doing theses cars cheaper than the joes off the street. if a avg person build there cars right, then ya they can play with the shops.

and hittin bumper is the norm now. how about like was posted before. the most inches on the least amount of batts.

I'd say,
OK to reinforce the engine cradle and other week points.

OK a bar from frame to frame in front of the ider arm

No rear frame plating, (using less batteries)

OK for slip drive shafts, and modified rear arms.

No steel motor mounts or body mounts,

Reinforced A-arms OK (Extended ??)

No split bellies

OK any type of pump, home made or store bought, modified etc. BUT, modified unit must not be over 50 pounds, or displace of no more than 2 cubic feet.
