this is the latest project. its supposed to be a replica of lemonlaid but due to a lack of a conti kit and a set of skirts like the ones on the real car it might not turn out to be exactly like the real car so just in case it doesnt im namin it sunshine 58 for now. this project is now on hold for about a week til i get my wheels and figure out how im gonna make the susp adjustable so i finally get to do sum more work to the supra and the clipse. the first 2 pics are mockups with wheels. the 3rd and 4th are just pics i took tonight and the last 1 is a pic i took of the finished interior ready to be assembled. if you look closely in the last pic on the dash i scratchbuilt a tissue dispenser and 2 switches. im gonna redo the switches b/c i made them from a paperclip and theyre WAY to big so im gonna try a staple. as always gimme sum feedback and any suggestions on how to make the chassis moveable <and no hydros> i cant figure out how to make the rearend lift up and look realistic b/c the springs mount on the control arms and it looks to me like itd fuck up the geometry if you used the stock mounts :dunno: feeeeeeeeeddbbbbbbbbbbaack

is that rear the same as the 64 lowrider model cuz to make that rear end swing it is easy the trail arms ar on the rear and they mount to the frame right

make some cruizer skirts for that bad boy and the conti kit

nope its a different rearend. on the 64 the springs mount on top of the rearend but on the 58 they mount right in the middle of the trailing arms. ill take pics later on tonight. id like to make a set of skirts and the conti kit for it but i dunno how to make the skirts and i dunno how to make the part of the conti kit that hooks it onto the bumper. i made sum new switches last night out of a staple and they look hella better. i think im gonna end up buildin another 58 sumtime after i finish this 1. id like to find an up top and do a vert next time. ive treied to build this several times b4 but i kept breakin the a pillars and didnt have the skills to fix it like i do now but so far i havent had any problems on this 1 besides the small amount of dust in the clear but its almost unnoticeable. next big project is a 70 mc, and then im gonna try to do a 62 hardtop and after that anything goes. thanks for the feedback guys keep it comin

yeah man, Impalas mount on the arms rather than the housing like caddys, regals, cuttys, montes, ect ect...

im not sure exactly what you are needing to know but what i did on my 63 was i extended the trailing arms so that it could lift higher than what the kit was designed to do. but heres the trick though.......... when extending your trailing arms you need to also move your mounting points forward as well so that the car will lay.
if you dont move your mounting point forward the tires wont fit into the wheel wells when you let it down.

I always use my knowledge of building real cars and apply them to my model building ;)

see if this helps you out some:

nope, plastic amt kit.

ENDLESS, dog you beat me to the punch. that was 1 of my 5 projects i was going to do. its all good......i'm lov'n it. 58's are my all time favs.

shit is off the hook. for your cont kit, get 1 of those rim kits from clean4years (whatever his screen name is, but his real name is Perry). it comes with a cont kit.

now for the skirts.......you dont have an extra 58? i chopped my 58 right on top of the body trim. the skirt will cover the hole. its not a kandy right? chop it and cut some plastic, shape it to a skirt.

i'm at work right now, when i get home i'll give you the size of it. it will make it alot easier for you
my diecasts that i have at work. switched the rims

alright END this is how i did it. sorry for the bad pics. you can see the skirt and the back of it

this is exactly what i need but i dont have an extra body to chop up :uh: i found the conti kit i need today but unfortunately its on a diecast and they want $16.99 for it. in a few weeks im gonna hit up my boy brian and see if he has an extra body i can chop up in a few weeks when i get my wheels and in the meantime im gonna work on my other 2 projects and see if i can figure out a way to scratchbuild the conti kit cuz im a broke ho and cant afford to order it from that guy. btw guess what i found today...... walked into a thriftstore today and bought a 62 impala vert for $1.98 so now i need to know how to cut a roof off and mold it on or if any1 already has a 63-64 roof thas already cut or a spare body to donate to the cause hit me up. ray it looks like ur trailing arms r twisted a little. if so how did you do it?

Dam, that's one mean and super clean functioning set up. Thanks for showing the details mad.
your still going to have to cut that body trim. or sand it down when you put the cruiser skirt.
your still going to have to cut that body trim. or sand it down when you put the cruiser skirt.
you mean the triangle part on the bottom in the back? if so i can deal with sandin that off. i just dont wanna do any major cuttin into the body since the t and trim is already done. im thinkin of tryin to scratchbuild sum outta card stock but gotta get the time to do it first. i got bored tonight and tool a few pics. the first 2 r the supra with the wheels under it

this next 1 is pics of my tool and paint boxes and the last 3 are all my kits, built and unbuilt

sorry bout how dark the last 1 is. its a pics of all my completed cars and my 1/18th and 1/64th cars

cool if you want try that. or what about some plastic tubing, cut it the same angle.

if not i had some free time, and did this. this would be great for any others that want to do these skirts.

this is where you would cut it off

how it looks after you have cut it.

and this one shows what areas the skirts covers. the blue line is the chrome strip on the skirts

hope this helps
